Let me give you a simple explanation about attunement. When Usui sensei realized the Reiki Ryoho along with his spiritual awakening, after twenty one days of fast on Mt. Kurama in Kyoto, he reached a thought that “This power should not be monopolized in a single family, I must spread it to other people.” The results of his research of numerous literatures and study, he completed the techniques such as to receive energy called Reiju and to accelerate the Reiki flow called Hatsurei-ho. He establish ‘Usui Reiki Ryoho Society’ and performed Sho-den(the entrance) energy giving and gave the healing ability to anyone who wished. As a student’s Reiki channel being opened in shoden level, he/she already become a clear path of Reiki. Furthermore, he/she must undertake certain trainings or exercises strengthening the flow of Reiki. It could take years before a student reach a desirable energy level and spiritual awareness. In helping the students use Reiki in their daily life and progress quickly , Sensei Usui created symbols and mantras system. Each symbols and mantras conveys certain life principles which will soon being understood when communicated through Reiki as medium and being practice daily. Moreover, Sensei Hiroshi Doi said that traditional Reiki-ho normally consisted of 3 parts, Sho-den (entry level), Oku-den( inside training), and Shinpi-den(mystery). However, at present time, Reiki-ho is divided into 3 parts, Sho-den, Oku-den, Shinpi-den, and Gokuika-den( master training).
